The program is an initiative to help engineering students keep pace with the evolving technology landscape - in the process enhance their lateral thinking process and inculcate the spirit to compete and excel. The quiz serves as an alternative platform to enhance awareness and confidence levels of aspiring engineers while bringing them in sync with the current developments in the technology sphere through an interactive and engaging quiz platform. “TCS TechBytes” strives to provide a better understanding of IT as technology today is an enabler in diverse fields – be it engineering, medicine, law, sports, science, movie, music, government, automobile, telecommunication, etc.There is NO entry or registration fee.
Students from all Engineering streams in Karnataka are eligible to participate.
Only 10 teams per college (2 members per team) will be allowed to participate in Round 2.
SUBJECT
The quiz will mainly focus on application of Technology across various sectors and aspects such as: The Technology environment, the business, its people, new trends, legends etc. It will also focus on emerging areas eg: cloud computing, telecom, mobility, social media, biometrics, robotics, etc.
World of internet, and unique websites, IT buzzwords and acronyms.
IT Personalities - International, national and local.
IT and communication companies Software products, brands and history of IT.
Areas where IT has made an impact - education, entertainment, books, multimedia, music, movies, internet, banking, advertising, sports, gaming, social networking, cell phones, etc.
PRIZE GALORE
- There will be attractive prizes at both the Regional level and State level, besides audience prizes.
- Regional Winners will receive education scholarship of Rs 12,000/- and Runners-up Rs 8,000/- . All finalists will also receive prizes .
- State Winners will receive education scholarship of Rs 75,000/- and Runners-up Rs 40,000/- . All finalists will also receive prizes
- In addition, all students at the Regional level will receive participation certificates.
2015 Schedule
Round 1: College Level
Each institution can send 10 teams (2 students per team). A model questions format with answers has been sent to colleges to select the 10 Best Teams. Round 2: Regional Finals
The Regional Level Quiz will be conducted by the Quizmaster at the following locations:
- Tumkur – 14th March 2015: Siddaganga Institute of Technology, Tumkur
- Mysore – 17th March 2015: Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, Mysore
- Mangalore – 19th March 2015: Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, Mangalore
- Hubli – 24th March 2015: BVB College of Engineering, Hubli
- Gulbarga – 26th March 2015: Appa Institute of Engineering & Technology, Gulbarga
- Bangalore – 31st March 2015: SJB Institute of Technology, Bangalore
At the Regional level, students will undergo a written preliminary round and the top six teams will qualify for the Regional Finals which will be conducted on the same day. The Winner of the Regional round will qualify for the State Finals to be conducted in Bangalore.
Round 3: State Finals
The 6 Regional Winners from Gulbarga, Hubli, Tumkur, Bangalore, Mysore and Mangalore will be invited to participate in the State Finals. State Finals will be held at Bangalore on 31st March at SJB Institute of Technology Auditorium, after the Bangalore Regional Finals. The winning team will emerge as the Karnataka State ‘TCS TechBytes’ Champion.
