TCS Rural IT Quiz 2011

Rural IT Quiz is an initiative and encouraging step, to increase the awareness about Information Technology and the possibilities in the field,taken by Tata Consultancy services and Department of Information and Technology,Government of Karnataka.The winners will be awarded with cashprize along with exciting gadgets.The Rural IT Quiz, which had a successful run in Karnataka for over a decade, is being extended to Gujarat, Orissa, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh and all the north eastern states.The regional rounds of the program will be held in all the states during August, September and October.

Entry and Eligibility :

  • There is NO entry or registration fee.
  • Students from 8th to 12th Std. are eligible to participate.
  • Multiple teams per school (2 members per team) will be allowed to participate.
  • Students of Schools/PU Colleges in the City Corporation limits cities are not eligible to participate in the quiz.

Schedule and Guidelines for Karnataka Students:

Round 1: Statewide Prelims on 27th August 2011:

The test should be written as a team (2 students per team).The school/college itself will correct the test paper and select "Two Best Teams" in order of Merit.

Note: Students of Schools/PU Colleges in the City Corporation limits of Bangalore, Mysore, Mangalore, Bellary, Davangere, Hubli-Dharwad, Belgaum & Gulbarga cities are not eligible to participate in the quiz.

Round 2 : District Level Quiz on 7th September,2011:

Each school/college to send their team for the district round. test should also be written as a team (2 students per team). After the written round, the top 25 teams from each district will be selected for Round 3.

Round 3 : Regional Level Quiz Competition from 10-10-2011 to 13-10-2011:

There would be 3 Regional Rounds across the State.

12th Oct,2011


250 teams(500 students)

Tumkur, Chikkaballapur, Kolar, Bangalore Rural, Bangalore North & South DDPI jurisdiction,Haveri, Bellary, Davangere, Shimoga, Chitradurga

13th Oct,2011


250 teams (500 students)

Chamarajnagar, Mandya, Mysore, Kodagu, Hassan, Ramanagaram, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Chikmagalur

 Top 25 teams from each district will take part in the Regional Level Competition.Written test will be administered to all the teams.Top 6 teams from each regional round will be called on stage to take part in an interactive quiz .The winning team from each regional round will participate in the State Final.

Round 4: State Finals on 13th October,2011:

The winning team from each Regional Level Round, will participate in the State Finals to be held at Mysore on 13th October,2011. The State Final winners are then got selected for National Level Quiz Finals.


National Level Finals: October 19th,Bengaluru

The Rural IT Quiz National Finals will be held at Lalit Ashok,Bengaluru on October 19th, as part of the Asia’s premier ICT event “ 2011”.The winning team from all States, will participate in the National Final.

6th Sept –Scientific Hall, Nagpur, Maharashtra
8th Sept –Patel Party Hall, Baroda, Gujarat
